Playa Tortugas

Among the most accessible and lively beaches in Cancún’s Hotel Zone, Playa Tortugas stands out for its combination of calm waters, social atmosphere, and open views of the Caribbean. It’s one of those beaches where you can easily arrive, settle under a palapa, and spend the entire day enjoying the sun and sea breeze.

Its waves are usually gentler compared to other Cancún beaches, making it a good option for swimming or simply cooling off without worrying too much about strong currents. In addition, ferries to Isla Mujeres depart from here, giving the area constant movement and a very distinctive energy.

Playa Tortugas is also known for its more dynamic atmosphere: you’ll find restaurants, water activities such as jet skiing and parasailing, and spaces ideal for spending time with friends or family. At sunset, the sky often turns golden and pink, reflecting over the sea and creating a perfect end-of-day scene.

Sargassum season

As in most of the Mexican Caribbean, Playa Tortugas can be affected by sargassum, mainly between April and September, with the highest likelihood of accumulation during May, June, July, and August. The amount varies depending on ocean currents and seasonal weather conditions.

Local authorities and government crews regularly work to remove sargassum and keep the beach in good condition, especially during peak tourist periods.
